So I don't know if anyone has heard about the parents of a well-known 16 year old model who are suing Urban Outfitters for some "scandalous" pictures they put it, but it is RIDICULOUS!! This girl, Haley Clauson, showed up on the scene about a year or more ago and she was 15. Now a lot of people say that age is way to young to begin modeling. Yes, in some cases it is, but with the right guidance and parental supervision they could do amazing and be trampled by the industry. But this case is very interesting.
Ms. Clauson is known for her pouty, voluptuous lips and curvy body. The pictures she did for Urban were not all that bad compared to some of the more racy things she has done for editorials and campaigns. If her parents had such a concern for their daughter than maybe while those shots were being taken they should have been there or set exact guidelines to what their daughter can do. Now that those pictures are sprawled all over the web, they are complaining that they never gave consent to publish them, and I call BULL SHIT! Honestly if they were so concerned then they would have known about the pictures and not allowed their daughter to do a lot of other photo shoots that she has done. This is a simple case of greedy, money hungry parents who are feeding off of their daughters youth and popularity. The whole thing is ridiculous and suing for more than $25 million is even more absurd.
There are so many ways that parents can watch over their young models that this is crazy. Contracts can be modified and specify exactly what a girl will and won't do. They can add things such as they have to be present while their daughter shoots or an agent has to be there. They have to know exactly what clothing, location, and vision the creative team. There are too many ways that parents can protect their little models from the over-sexified modeling world that this lawsuit should be dropped, and those parents should just ask their daughter for some money if they want it so badly.
What's your opinion?
