T-minus 6 hours until the roadtrip to Chicago ensues.
In order to update my book, I have a photo shoot in Chicago on Monday. Sad to report that I am paying for this one, but one quicky and then my book is updated and the work will begin and do the work for me. These types of photo shoots can be quite beneficial sometimes. When I first started I did so many test shoots with a variety of photographers, make-up artists, and stylists and they give an abundant of experience. Also, if the photographer or any other person working with you is impressed they recommend you for other jobs and this way you meet more and more people and the work comes flowing in. So a good test shoot means a great deal. In some cities, test shoots can either make or break you. If you have a bad one, then the team will spread the word that you are not good to work with and then you are at a stand still. This is where personality can actually play a big part in the modeling industry.
Impressing and wooing photographers, make-up artists, and stylists is a big deal!! The more people like you the more they push to work with you. In Milan, I did one photo shoot for a hair company and the photographer liked me so much that she booked me for three other jobs. And I thought it went bad but hey, some times the other side of the lens sees a much better performance than you think. A majority of my former career was based on people recommending me for jobs and wanting to work with me. This time around I hope to do the same but even better. Now that I am more comfortable with who I am and what I can do, my performance and personality will be at the top.
Even though I use to do photo shoots all the time, I am actually super nervous for Monday. A lot has changed since I have worked with myself and the creative teams so who knows what that day will bring. All I can hope for is that they have a great stylist and make-up artist because the last time and only time I paid for a shoot, the team was horrible! To this day, they are still my most hated pictures and I cringe every time I see them. So heres to a safe drive and great shoot.
